Job Description and Duties

Per CCR 249.3, this job control may be used to fill subsequent vacancies.

Under close supervision of the Program Manager (EPM I) and in a learner capacity, the incumbent performs non-professional assignments of average difficulty in the field or office setting. These assignments may include activities related to animal health, food safety, emergency management and other special programs and functions. The Student Assistant must have knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite, the ability to communicate and follow both oral and written instructions and the ability to work with others as a team. This class is not intended to be used for permanent employment and no full-time permanent appointments will be made in this class.

• Gather, review, and summarize research data from program databases, research documents, and sample reports

• Compile information and data into a concise report for distribution to various stakeholders both internal and external 

• Travelling by personal, state-owned and rented vehicles, attend advisory board meetings throughout the state to learn about ACP activities, including locations that may be remote and not accessible by ride-share or public transportation

• Observe and participate in working group sessions to understand current issues and topics affecting agriculture

• Create, maintain, and update electronic and paper files and records for ACP

• Purge files and records regularly according to the current retention schedule

• Perform other job-related duties as requested by supervisor.

Working Conditions

The duties of this position are mostly conducted indoors, however incumbent may occasionally be required to work outside and under difficult conditions.

In accordance with CA State Law, applicants are not required to live in California when applying. However, the selected applicant will need to reside in the state of CA prior to starting their position.

Special Requirements
