Job Description

Position Title: Commercial Underwriter / Credit Analyst

Location : Winchester, VA - fully on site

Assignment Type: Direct hire

Compensation : $75-85K depending on qualifications

Job Description:

  • Review incoming loan application files to ensure accuracy and completeness; flag missing documents and follow up with appropriate team members.
  • Assist in identifying potentially fraudulent or suspicious applications.
  • Analyze financial data provided by borrowers and guarantors, including credit applications, personal financial statements, tax returns (personal and business), and other relevant financial documents.
  • Assess loan requests by evaluating both the strengths and potential risks of each file, and provide recommendations to approve, restructure, or decline the deal.
  • Prepare loan packages for submission to lending partners, including writing credit memos, completing analysis worksheets (in Excel), and compiling financial documents into organized, bookmarked PDF files.
  • Review feedback and questions from lending partners, and communicate important points to the credit, sales, or operations teams.
  • Draft approval and decline letters; communicate loan terms, counteroffers, and conditions to the sales team or clients directly.
  • Develop knowledge of the collateral involved in loan requests (such as aircraft), and assist in assessing its value using industry-standard valuation tools.
  • Document all relevant interactions with clients, internal teams, and third parties (e.g., title companies, legal counsel, tax advisors, appraisers, banks) in our Salesforce CRM.
  • Support the pre-closing process by gathering and reviewing necessary entity and collateral documentation, and resolving any outstanding financial conditions.
  • Take part in managing the loan pipeline, ensuring all stakeholders (banks, sales, etc.) are kept up to date on the status of each deal.

Qualifications:

  • 4-8 years' experience with commercial underwriting
  • Strong Excel
  • BS degree preferred in a related field (business, finance, accounting, etc.)
