Schlaupitz Madhavan, P.C. (SMCPA) is a growing CPA and advisory firm recognized for its collaborative culture, high standards, and commitment to excellence. We’re seeking an experienced Controller to lead our accounting and financial operations, providing insights that help guide the firm’s strategic and operational decisions.

As a member of our leadership team, the Controller will oversee monthly accounting and financial reporting, budgeting, and P&L forecasting, while managing core accounting functions such as billing, collections, accounts payable, payroll, and insurance administration. This position also plays a hands-on role in preparing financial and operational analyses, identifying opportunities for improvement, and supporting special projects that drive firm growth and efficiency.

What You’ll Do:

• Lead monthly accounting close and financial reporting processes
• Develop and manage annual budgets and rolling P&L forecasts
• Prepare financial analyses to support decision-making and problem-solving
• Oversee billing, collections, AP, and payroll; provide leadership to accounting staff
• Administer insurance policies (general and professional liability)
• Partner with firm leadership on financial strategy, process improvements, and special initiatives

What You Bring:

• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or Accounting; advanced degree or CPA preferred
• 7+ years of progressive accounting or financial management experience
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills
• Proven leadership and ability to collaborate across teams
• Experience in a professional services or CPA firm environment preferred
