OSP Inspector III (Hourly) – Field-Based | Mileage Reimbursed
Overview
We’re looking for an experienced OSP Inspector III to ensure that all underground, buried, and aerial plant facilities meet current construction and safety standards. This role focuses on field inspections, contractor oversight, and accurate documentation of outside plant (OSP) work.
The ideal candidate has hands-on experience with OSP construction, NESC compliance, and team leadership. You’ll work independently in the field—using your personal vehicle (mileage reimbursed)—and interact regularly with both client and vendor management teams.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct inspections and audits of underground, buried, and aerial plant construction for quality and compliance with OSP standards.
Verify that contractor work meets client specifications and industry safety requirements.
Perform pole transfer inspections and documentation.
Record inspection results electronically and, when needed, manually using printed reports or spreadsheets.
Communicate with clients, vendors, and inspection teams via phone, email, and digital platforms.
Manage and guide teams of inspectors, monitoring workflow and ensuring project timelines are met.
Report construction or compliance issues promptly and recommend corrective actions.
Qualifications
Previous experience performing NESC inspections or working on aerial cable line crews.
Experience with wooden pole ground line inspections.
Strong knowledge of OSP construction standards and National Electric Safety Code (NESC).
Proficient with Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and Windows.
Familiarity with mapping tools (e.g., Microsoft MapPoint, Google Earth, or other GIS platforms).
Strong communication, organization, and time management skills.
Proven experience managing contractor relationships and leading inspection teams.
Valid driver’s license and ability to travel on short notice.
