Job Description

We are a fast-growing, privately held insurance services firm with a strong reputation for client-first service, operational excellence, and long-term partnerships. From underwriting and claims support to digital solutions and compliance consulting, we’re known for delivering results with precision and care. With a strong market presence in California and ambitious plans for national growth, we’re seeking a visionary yet hands-on COO to help lead us into our next chapter.

The Opportunity

This is not your typical COO role. We’re looking for a strategic operator with deep insurance industry knowledge, preferrable agency experience who spearheaded growth, someone who is just as comfortable rolling up their sleeves as they are setting long-term operational strategy. You will lead our day-to-day business operations—including risk, compliance, client services, claims, compliance, HR, and IT—while partnering directly with the CEO to drive efficiency, profitability, and culture.

This is your chance to step into a highly visible leadership role and make a lasting impact on a company poised for national growth.

What You’ll Do

  • Operational Leadership: Oversee and continuously improve all internal operations, ensuring efficiency, scalability, and cross-functional alignment.
  • Strategic Execution: Translate the company’s growth strategy into actionable operational plans, KPIs, and systems. Help evolve the org structure as we scale.
  • Insurance Expertise: Manage key regulatory and compliance functions. Partner with Underwriting, Claims, and Risk to ensure quality, consistency, and adherence to all applicable laws (NAIC, DOI, etc.).
  • Process Optimization: Identify bottlenecks, outdated workflows, or inefficiencies and lead system upgrades, automation projects, and SOP rollouts.
  • People & Culture: Lead, coach, and scale high-performing teams across departments. Champion a performance-driven, service-first culture.
  • Client Experience: Ensure a seamless end-to-end customer journey, from onboarding to claims resolution, that reinforces our brand promise and retains clients.
  • Technology Partnership: Partner with IT and vendors on digital transformation, including systems integration, automation, and reporting.
  • Risk & Compliance: Maintain and oversee enterprise risk management practices, audits, licensing, and regulatory filings.
  • Executive Collaboration: Work closely with the CEO and executive team to support financial, legal, and strategic initiatives.

What We’re Looking For

  • 10+ years of progressive leadership experience, with at least 5 years in an operational or executive role within insurance industry, preferably agency where they have scaled and spearheaded growth.
  • Proven track record scaling operations within a multi-state or national footprint.
  • Deep understanding of operations and compliance.
  • Strong knowledge of California insurance regulations preferred; bonus if familiar with national compliance trends.
  • A clear communicator and servant leader who thrives in a collaborative environment.
  • Data-driven, systems-minded, and solution-oriented.
  • Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree or insurance certifications (e.g., CPCU, ARM) a strong plus.

Compensation & Perks

  • Competitive base salary + executive bonus
  • Medical, dental, vision insurance
  • 401(k) with match
  • Generous PTO and paid holidays
  • Collaborative, down-to-earth culture with real growth opportunity
  • Direct access to decision-makers—your voice matters here
