Architectural Job Captain

About Us: Since 1974, Danmeier Waldorf Architects (DWA) has specialised in building-envelope rehabilitation, forensic architecture, and project management for HOAs, multifamily communities, and single-family residences across the Bay Area. We unravel complex construction issues, explain them in plain language, and design repairs that protect communities and their budgets.

Position Overview: As a Job Captain you will take ownership of repair drawings, field documentation, and day-to-day coordination on active rehabilitation projects. You’ll work shoulder-to-shoulder with our project managers, translating site findings into Revit details, preparing concise forensic reports, and guiding projects from investigation through construction.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and redline repair drawings and details in Revit; maintain Bluebeam mark-up sets.
• Draft clear forensic reports and spec sections.
• Conduct roof, balcony, and façade inspections (ladders, lifts, drones) and organise photo logs.
• Track RFI/submittal responses and coordinate with consultants and contractors.
• Help refine DWA detail standards and QC checklists.

• Compensation: Salary $85,000 – $100,000 DOE plus discretionary bonus.

Qualifications

• 5 – 8 years architectural experience, including multi-family rehab or Type V construction.
• Proficient in R evit, Bluebeam Revu , and Google Workspace.
• Strong technical writing skills for reports and specifications.
• California driver’s licence; comfortable on roofs, lifts, and scaffolds.
• Nice-to-have: CDT, RWC, or equivalent mastery of spec writing and waterproofing detailing (we’ll cover credential costs).
