Job Description

We are seeking a motivated Paralegal / Legal Assistant to provide both substantive legal support and administrative assistance for a boutique personal injury law firm in Delray Beach, FL. This hybrid role is ideal for someone who is comfortable handling a wide range of responsibilities—from drafting pleadings to managing the front line of client communication.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage attorney calendar, schedule depositions, mediations, hearings, and client meetings.
  • Draft pleadings for review and file once approved, discovery requests/responses, motions, affidavits, subpoenas, etc.
  • Use templates to draft subrogation lien letters to health insurers, Medicare, and Medicaid.
  • Maintain and manage case files and litigation documents in physical and digital formats.
  • Coordinate and schedule depositions, mediations, examinations, court appearances, and other case-related events.
  • Communicate with clients, opposing counsel, medical providers, witnesses, and court personnel in a professional manner.
  • Organize and summarize medical records, bills, police reports, and other evidence.
  • Assist with trial preparation, including exhibits, trial binders, and witness lists.
  • Keep attorney informed of deadlines and court rulings to ensure timely filings.
  • Track case milestones and support billing or timekeeping as needed.
  • Answer phones, and assist with intake as needed.
  • Perform billing and time entry support as requested.
  • Handle other administrative tasks to ensure smooth daily operations

Qualifications

  • Paralegal certificate preferred, associate's degree, or bachelor’s degree in paralegal studies or related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience, preferably within personal injury, medical malpractice or other litigation.
  • Familiarity with Florida civil procedure and online court filing systems.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office; experience with legal case management software is a plus.
  • Professional demeanor with compassion for clients going through difficult situations.
  • High integrity, professionalism, and strong interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage an ongoing workload with precision and meet deadlines.
