Position Overview:
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Piping BIM Detailer to join our VDC team. This role involves drafting and modeling mechanical piping systems, coordinating design with the client’s BIM team, and producing accurate and detailed drawings for mechanical construction projects. The ideal candidate will be able to complete the tasks assigned to them with minimal supervision
Key Responsibilities:
Design and Modeling:
- Create, review, and update detailed 3D mechanical models and drawings using tools like Revit, Navisworks, AutoCAD, and other industry-standard software .
- Develop and deliver accurate spool drawings, prefabrication drawings, and shop drawings to support fabrication and installation teams.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to develop clash-free models and ensure constructability.
- Review and analyze project submittals and specifications to accurately extract and implement essential information into the BIM process.
- Ensure the highest quality standards are met and that all project requirements are consistently adhered to.
Project Coordination:
- Attend BIM coordination meetings and resolve conflicts between trades.
- Prepare and present 3D models and construction plans to clients and project teams.
- Coordinate with project managers and field teams to ensure seamless project execution.
Material Management:
- Generate and maintain accurate Bill of Materials (BOMs) based on project design and specs, ensuring all materials are accounted for and available for prefabrication and construction.
- Collaborate with procurement teams to streamline material ordering and delivery schedules.
Quality Assurance:
- Ensure the accuracy and quality of all models and drawings.
- Implement procedures to identify and resolve errors early in the design process.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- 5+ years of experience in VDC/BIM roles within the construction or mechanical industry.
- Expertise in Revit, Navisworks, AutoCAD, BIM 360, ACC, Bluebeam, Trimble and other VDC software.
- Strong understanding of mechanical systems and construction methods.
- Exceptional communication and problem-solving skills.
- Experience with clash detection and resolution in a collaborative environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with scripting and automation tools (e.g., Dynamo, Python).
- Familiarity with cloud-based collaboration platforms like Procore or PlanGrid.
- Familiarity with Sharepoint.
- Familiarity with GTP STRATUS tracking/fabrication workflow
- Knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, and piping systems.
