Job Description

Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP)

Location: On-site (School-Based Clinic)

Schedule: Full-time or Part-time options available

Immediate Start Needed

About the Environment

This role is within a highly specialized school and on-site clinic serving approximately 30 elementary-aged students (K–5). Students attend year-round—215 days per year, from 9 AM to 3 PM—with no summer breaks.

Population consists of children with significant behavioral needs, many of whom have been removed from traditional school environments due to intense aggression, self-injurious behaviors, and other complex challenges.

Position Overview

Our client is seeking a passionate, hands-on Speech-Language Pathologist to join a dedicated clinical and educational team. This is a fully in-person position providing daily therapeutic services to a small caseload of students with significant communication and behavioral challenges.

This work is extremely rewarding, mission-driven, and rooted in a family-oriented, collaborative culture. All student services are state-funded, allowing families access without financial burden.

An immediate opening is available due to an SLP relocating out of state. The school is open to hiring additional SLPs but is prioritizing filling this urgent vacancy. Part‑time availability can also be accommodated.

Key Responsibilities (Day-to-Day)

  • Staff comes in at 7:30-8am
  • Kids come in around 9am
  • They can go into the children's classroom or bring them out of class to an SLP room to do their therapy.
  • See the children at the end of the day
  • Use a provided iPad where they would take notes and fill out soap notes, signing off on them to confirm details of sessions
  • Sessions are 30minutes long each.
  • 4-5 sessions per day.
  • 2-2.5 hours of actual sessions per day, and the second half of the day is used for documentation and reporting.
  • Monthly meetings with the parents, not required to attend but preferred.
  • Provide daily speech and language therapy to a small caseload of approximately 6–9 students.
  • Collaborate closely with BCBAs, OTs, teachers, and clinical leadership to coordinate students’ treatment plans.
  • Conduct ongoing assessment of communication skills and maintain accurate progress notes and documentation.
  • Develop individualized treatment plans and contribute to IEP meetings and multidisciplinary evaluations.
  • Support students experiencing intense behavioral needs in a safe, compassionate, and skillful manner.
  • Partner with families, caregivers, and staff to reinforce communication strategies across school settings.
  • Participate in staff training related to communication supports and behavioral collaboration.
  • Maintain compliance with all clinical, state, and school standards.

What Makes This Role Unique

  • Exceptionally small caseloads (6–9 students per SLP)
  • Daily therapy, maximizing continuity and progress
  • A team of 75 staff for 30 kids—high support, low ratio
  • No virtual caseload—100% hands-on, in-person clinical work
  • Highly collaborative environment with extensive clinical expertise
  • Ability to make a meaningful impact on children who need the highest level of care
  • Warm, close-knit, family-oriented culture
  • State-funded program reducing administrative burden around billing and insurance

Qualifications - Must Have's

  • Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology
  • Current state SLP licensure in Maryland

Nice-To-Have

  • Experience with high‑behavioral‑needs children preferred but not required
  • Strong teamwork, communication, and problem‑solving skills
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-support environment
  • Passion for working with children who require intensive behavioral and communication support
  • Experience with IEP's
  • Problem-solving skills

Schedule & Availability

  • Full-time preferred, but part-time candidates are welcome
  • In‑person only (no remote or hybrid options)
