Security Officer – Data Center (MCI Site)

Location: Kansas City, MO

Shift: Full-time 3PM-11PM Friday- Monday

Industry: Critical Infrastructure / Data Center Security

Position Overview

The Security Officer assigned to the Edged MCI Data Center is responsible for maintaining a secure, safe, and professional environment within a high-availability, mission-critical facility. Officers will enforce site access control, monitor security systems, manage visitor and contractor activity, and uphold strict client and company security standards.

This role requires attention to detail, strong customer-service skills, and the ability to follow established procedures in a regulated environment.

Primary Responsibilities

• Control and monitor access points, including gates, doors, and lobbies
• Verify credentials and process visitors and contractors through the site visitor management system
• Issue and collect access badges in accordance with site policy
• Conduct foot and vehicle patrols of the interior and exterior of the facility
• Monitor CCTV, alarms, and access control systems
• Respond appropriately to alarms, incidents, and safety concerns
• Accurately document incidents, activities, and shift pass-on information
• Enforce site rules, safety standards, and security procedures consistently
• Provide professional customer service to clients, vendors, and site personnel
• Communicate effectively with supervisors, site leadership, and emergency responders when required

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED
• Valid government-issued photo ID
• Ability to pass a background check and drug screening
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to remain calm and professional under pressure
• Basic computer skills (email, reporting systems, access control software)
• Ability to stand, walk, and patrol for extended periods

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior security, military, or law enforcement experience
• Experience in a data center, corporate, or critical-infrastructure environment
• Familiarity with access control systems, CCTV, or alarm monitoring
• Customer-service or client-facing experience
