Reporting to: Manager, Merchandising & Product Development

Brand/Product Focus: DKNY Handbags

Location (On-Site): New York City, Midtown Manhattan – Fashion District

Position Overview:

The Product Development Associate supports the merchandising and product development process for handbags and accessories. This role plays a key part in analyzing business trends, managing the product lifecycle, and partnering cross-functionally to ensure the timely development and execution of seasonal assortments. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized and passionate about product development and fashion merchandising, with strong analytical and communication skills.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Create styles in AS-400, manage PLM/line sheets, and maintain SRS/Line Lists and NuOrder uploads to ensure accurate product setup and cross-team communication.
  • Maintain and update sample tickets and BOMs, partnering with Design to capture material and hardware details while coordinating with vendors on sample requirements.
  • Participate in market sample and pre-production reviews to confirm product specifications, materials, and construction details meet brand standards.
  • Oversee sample organization and showroom preparation, ensuring proto, pre-production, and market samples are delivered on schedule.
  • Maintain and distribute market change logs, buy turn-in updates, and order roll-up files to support seasonal market readiness across global partners.
  • Review, submit, and track development, hardware, and market invoices, coordinating with Accounts Payable and vendors to ensure timely payments.
  • Analyze sales, consumer feedback, and historical data while monitoring competitive landscape and industry trends to inform future seasonal assortments.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Merchandising, Business or related field
  • 2 - 4 years of experience in product development, merchandising or related fashion/accessories role
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, organizational, presentation and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to take initiative and ownership for business
  • Strong strategic planning and analytical skills
  • Ability to multi-task and work with cross-functional partners at all levels
  • Proficiency in Excel, Word, PowerPoint
  • Knowledge of retail math

The pay range for this position is: $31.25 per hour/$65,000 per year (Annualized salary is based on a 40 hour work week) - $36.06 per hour/$75,000 per year (Annualized salary is based on a 40 hour work week)
